Some Quickies [9:34 am]
Sorry -- lately it seems that I have no time for this weblog, yet there's so much happening that I have to keep trying. Today is going to be really busy, but here are a couple quick things gleaned this morning:
-
From Slashdot: EFF To Fight Dubious Patents; the EFF project site; Wired News’ story; Copyfight’s posting
-
Also from Slashdot: MP3.com Archive Not Lost (1.7 Million Songs Saved); CNet News - Former MP3.com archive finds online home
-
Carly Fiorina seems to be pushing digital broadcasting in this report: Fiorina: Bring on broadcast’s digital revolution. Of course, the things she talks about:
“What happens when a teacher wants to tap your digital archive to order the best TV and film documentaries on the Civil War for her American history class?” she asked. “Many of these answers will come not just through new economic models but through the use of new technology.”
will depend upon the DRM that HP is pushing, so this is really a weird sort of sales by threat to the copyright cabal. It’ll be interesting to learn whether this was well received at the NAB meeting or seen as a threat.
